What Exactly is a Window?
-------------------------
A Window appears when you click on disk icons or most drawers.
Open CLI,by pressing twice in sucession (or Double Clicking as it's more
commonly known) on the left mouse button on the System drawer, this will
open a smaller window (It is smaller than the main Workbench Window, the
main Workbench Window is called the PARENT Window. As other windows come
from the main Workbench Window, the smaller windows are known as CHILD
Windows).Double Click on the CLI Icon (An Icon is a square/rectangular
shape box usually containing 1 or more programs inside),this will display
the CLI Window. To activate a window, click once anywhere inside the window
and the grey top of the window will turn blue (this is how you activate
any Window),then type the words show window - A picture of a window will
appear, this will show you the makings of a window.Press the Right Mouse
Button once to return to the Workbench.
Now to explain the usage of Windows: Move the Mouse Pointer to the EXPAND
GADGET (As shown on the WINDOW Picture),Press & Hold the Left Mouse Button
Down over the small box,now move the Pointer around while Holding the Button
down - this is how you can shrink or expand the size of the window.
Shrinking The Window:
--------------------
Use the SHRINK GADGET (The Location of this is shown on the WINDOW Picture)
to reduce the size of the selected window. Ideal if you need the Workbench
Screen to open other windows. To return the Window to it's original size,
press the Left Mouse Button once over the SHRINK GADGET again.
The Front To Back Gadget:
------------------------
If you have opened 2 Windows and the Window you need to use is behind
another Window, first select the Window you wish to put at the front.
Next, press the Left Mouse Button once on the Front To Back Gadget (As shown
on the WINDOW Picture) this will bring the selected window in front of the
already present Window.
Icons
-----
To activate an Icon so you can use a menu item, click the Left Mouse Button
once on the Icon you wish to use.The Icons will slightly change shape.
Then you can use a Menu Item.
If you wish to copy an Icon from one disk to another here's how to do it.
For this exercise we'll just use 1 drive. First put the disk in which you
want to copy to.Open the Window where you are going to put the Icon and
leave it open.Take the disk out and put in the disk you are copying the Icon
from. Open this disk by Double Clicking on the disk icon.Move your Pointer
over the Icon you wish to copy,Press & Hold the Left Mouse Button down &
move the Pointer over to the Window where you want the Icon to be.Next you
release the Mouse Button to "drop" the Icon in place.
Follow the instructions as you will have to exchange the disks a few times.
You have now "Dragged" an Icon from one location to another.
However with this exercise, you will copy the Program within the ICON.
